BIOGRAPHY:
A Sun Valley native through and through, Cordeau, with his invigorating personality and unique turning style, challenges every competitor on the circuit. Following after his father's footsteps, Cordeau has a passion for moguls skiing that he reveals through his lively character. Cordeau says, "I like how it's a free sport…it's not just about going fast, it's more about style and creativity…I like the people." In 2010, Cordeau’s rookie season on the U.S. Ski Team, he took his fast style of skiing and crowd-pleasing energy to the World Cup, earning an impressive 13th-place finish at his first World Cup contest. Injury kept him sidelined for the 2011 season.

SHANE SAYS:
Last season started out with a lot of promise for me. A win at U.S. Team Selections and a fourth at Olympic Trials gave me a lot of confidence and allowed me some World Cup starts. Days before my first World Cup, I injured myself (three bulging discs, a pinched nerve and torn ligaments and muscles in my back), I still skied the World Cups I was allocated and ended up with a top finish of 13th and some top twenty fives.

All in all, I’m looking forward to returning to snow at 100 percent for the 2010-11 season. The only thing that has kept me going during these injuries is the desire to get back to doing what I love – skiing.

FIRST TRACKS:
On skis as early as one year, Cordeau did not waste any time starting his soon-to-be successful career in skiing. His father a four-time world champion in moguls, Cordeau followed his father's lead and began competing in freestyle skiing at the age of 11 or 12, after a few years of experimenting with alpine racing. "I really liked [freestyle skiing], so I just kept going with it," Cordeau said. Ever since then, it's been moguls for Cordeau.

OFF THE SNOW:
My off snow, interests include girls, waterskiing, surfing, fly fishing, volleyball, soccer, motocross and any other active sports. For work I paint ski lift towers when needed at Sun Valley Resorts. Also, I am a fly fishing guide at Silver Creek Outfitters in Ketchum, Idaho.
