BIOGRAPHY:
After moving to the skiing hotbed of Steamboat Springs at age 10, Dyer, a Denver transplant, abandoned dreams of making it big on the baseball diamond and gave in to the Olympic spirit fueled his new home. After being introduced to skiing competition in racing, he found something that really called to him. “I decided to try moguls. I instantly loved it. My first event I placed fifth. The speed and the jumps were a perfect combo for me,” Dyer said. Dyer’s break came early in the 2011 season when he took the overall top spot at the U.S. Team Selection event and was invited to join the U.S. Ski Team. A third-place finish at his second U.S. Championships gave him plenty of momentum to head into the off-season.

RYAN SAYS:
It is really a dream come true to be named to the U.S. Ski Team. You work so hard for something, when you finally achieve it the feeling is hard to describe. It is definitely something I want to feel again. Making the team was amazing but it is only a stepping stone to many other dreams that I have yet to accomplish. My goal for next year is to simply ski better than I did last year. I would also like to ski a few more World Cups next year. In the next few years my main goal is to compete in the Olympic Games.

FIRST TRACKS:
Born in Denver, Dyer, his two sibling and parents spent their weekends on the slopes since he was four. When the weekly haul to Steamboat got too heavy the family relocated to be closer to the snow just as Ryan turned 10. “I have always loved skiing but I never had any aspirations to ski living in Denver. I always wanted to be a baseball or soccer player,” says Dyer. “However, once in Steamboat I realized all skiing had to offer. I could ski race, ski jump, halfpipe, park, moguls, even snowboard. This was much more fun for me than running on a field.”

OFF THE SNOW:
Away from the snow Dyer enjoys time with friends and family, golf, mountain biking, soccer, baseball... he never met a sport he didn't like.
