Biography
When you grow up in the same town where the U.S. Aerials Team makes its training base, inspiration isn’t hard to find. Park City, UT native Madison Olsen got her start on the moguls slope but the monster aerials jump soon caught her eye and a dream was born.

“Getting to watching the U.S. Ski Team train and compete, I decided that I wanted to pursue the goal of making the national team and to hopefully one day go to the Olympics,” says Olsen.

The 2012 season saw Olsen spread her wings on the NorAm Tour with three wins and three more podiums on her way to earning the second ranking. She ended her season with a first place finish at her U.S. National Championships debut.

Madison Says
This season for me was mostly a learning experience. I got to compete bigger and better tricks compared to my previous years, which completely changed the game for me. It was awesome to travel around Canada and back east to experience all types of different weather conditions and sites. Competing at World Juniors in Italy was amazing. We got to meet all the other young athletes from around the world. The Lake Placid and the Deer Valley World Cup were my first ever World Cups I competed in. The intensity of competing in the NorAms circuit to competing in a World Cup was stepped up quite a bit, which added a ton of pressure and raised the bar for my performance.

I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to work with U.S. Ski Team coaches, they are going to give me the support and coaching I will need leading up to the Olympics. I am hoping to train hard so I am prepared for the pre-Olympic year. My expectation are set high but I am still young and preparing for a long career ahead of me so my focus is to get as strong and healthy as possible in order to become the best I can be.

First Tracks
Grow up in the ski Mecca of Park City, UT, Olsen started skiing at the age of two. At 12 years old she started competing in moguls and decided to fully switch to aerials when she was 14.

Off the Snow
When Olsen is off the slopes she is usually spending time with either her teammates or friends from school. “It's important to get away from training sometimes and enjoy everything else,” she says.
